Musings of a Smut Queen
Smutathon 2018: Filth for the People; Smut for Choice

Smutathon 2018: Filth for the People; Smut for Choice

One evening in the midst of the month of June, I got an unexpected virtual letter, asking me if I fancied a trip to Manchester in August.

Always one for a great adventure, I almost agreed to embark before I even had any of the details. But I did take a moment to learn more of what this curious sender from a distant nation spoke.

As it happens, there was to be an event. An event for the people. Where the most gallant of wordsmiths would wield their pens and keyboards to spout heaps of filth, to vanquish injustice and champion choice.

A Smutathon, they called it.

And their philanthropic cavalry had one saddle left to fill before they could ride out to the smutty castle nestled in the faraway lands of northern-ish England. What’s more, is that they requested that I be the one to fill it.

I was humbled by this gesture, and immediately turned to my sisters of the House of Bellesa (NSFW!) to discuss with them the importance of this noble mission, and what an honour it truly was for our clan to have received such an invitation. My sisters agreed unanimously that I must indeed journey across the sea to fly our banners alongside these mighty writers on this valiant quest.

So, Reader, tomorrow I shall mount my great flying steed – with a satchel full of maple syrup and Canadian chocolate bars, of course – to go and do just that.

This Smutathon will take place on Saturday, August 11 in a great manor in the land they call Cheshire. Our order of 8 will led by the fearless Amy of the house of Coffee and Kink, and this 12-hour filth-writing frenzy promises to be both a challenge of our wit and stamina as authors as well as an exciting means to raise funds for charity. Last year’s courageous crew raised £2000 for their two selected charities – no paltry sum indeed.
This year, the chosen charity for this fundraiser is the Abortion Support Network, an organization that supports pregnant people in the UK who need to travel for abortion services. The success of the referendum in Ireland earlier this year to legalize abortion in their county was great news, but abortion is still illegal in some parts of the UK – Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, specifically. This means that the peoples of these areas still need to go to great lengths to get access to the services they need. That’s where the heroes at ASN come into play.

The goal is to raise (at least!) £2000 this year for their cause. You will be able to follow the fun by keeping tabs on our quest’s official hashtags – #Smutathon2018 and #SmutForChoice. And we do encourage you to participate remotely. For every pen holds power and counts in our battle for choice!

Again, the official inauguration of the Second Annual Smutathon will be on Saturday, August 11. However, we have already begun to collect donations. So toss your pounds (or your dollars) in the pot, if you can. Because everyone deserves the opportunity to make the choice that is best for them.

Bear in mind too that on top of the warmth you will feel for supporting your kinfolk in need, every £2 you charitably donate will earn you an entry to our epic sex toy raffle (as long as you leave a Twitter handle/some way to reach you if you’re the lucky draw!)

And finally – yes, dear Reader, there will be a most bountiful feast for our heroes where we will cheers to every one of you generous souls for helping us reach our goals, and to a future filled to the brim with choice for all people.

Go on, show me your words.
